The la Amargura farm is located in the central part of the municipality of Nariño, with an altitude of more than 1800 meters above sea level. This farm has been evolving in the technical area of coffee cultivation. Cristian is a third generation coffee farmer, with his grandfather buying the farm over 50 years ago. Since then they have planted many new and exotic varieties of coffee, such as Geisha and Pink Bourbon.
Cristian’s new planting and fertilising system has helped him improve the production percentage of his farm. He has encouraged the planting of fruit trees in the middle of coffee cultivation, such as orange, tangerines, guava, and pineapple, enhancing nutrients in the soil.
We are extremely excited to bring you Amargura, the first SL-28 variety we have ever showcased, SL-28 is a common variety across parts of coffee growing Africa but has only recently emerged in South America. It is known for having intense, fruity flavours and a deep sweetness likened to jam. The combination of this variety and the beans undergoing a washed process, provides a crisp, clean drinking experience with obvious notes of red fruits.
