This farm belongs to coffee veteran José Rafael Reyes Pabón. José has been a farmer all his life and is widely recognised for his dedication towards perfecting his processing techniques across half a century. As a close knit family, the Reyes Pabóns work together through the ups and downs of coffee farming. José prides himself in teaching his 7 kids the importance of teamwork and showing love and respect for the “Madre Tierra” (the grounds they work on). One example of such love is that fruit trees have been incorporated into the landscape of the farm to provide protection for the coffee plants against excessive sunlight and pests. Despite his age, José still pours all his energy into his coffee farm, supported by his children to maintain the legacy.
In the cup, this coffee possesses a vibrant jammy fruit flavour, with sweetness lingering from the first sip to the last. The texture is slightly thicker than traditional washed coffees giving it quite a syrupy mouth-feel.
