At the age of 86, Gerardo Meneses has dedicated his life to running his coffee farm, San Isidro, producing excellent coffee alongside his wife. With their 5 children choosing different careers, Gerardo and his wife remained committed to the challenge of living off the land and following their dream of producing high quality coffee.
Experimenting with different processes, the Meneses’ now conduct a double fermentation, leaving the bean to ferment with the cherry intact for 50 hours before moving the coffee to tanks to continue fermenting with the pulp. Following this, the coffee is submerged in water for a further 50 hours to control fermentation and give the coffee an excellent taste and aroma.
Throughout the years, Don Gerardo and his wife have passed on many important lessons to their children; the importance of having dreams and having determination and perseverance to achieve them. This legacy will continue through every cup of their coffee.
