Sustainability is a fundamental pillar at Finca Villa Ines. Pedro uses organic fertilisers and fumigants, such as coffee cherry husks, to enrich the soil and protect the environment. He has also implemented sustainable farming practices to mitigate the effects of climate change, one of the biggest challenges facing modern coffee farming.
Pedro started his career as a coffee farmer after retiring from his position as a health visitor. His apprenticeship was self-taught, observing and collaborating with other coffee farmers in the region. Although he has three children, only one of them lives with him and helps him on the farm.
Pedro's passion for coffee growing is evident in his continuous interest in adopting new farming methods and techniques. His goal is to produce the best specialty coffee possible, while maintaining a focus on quality and sustainability.
