In the farm Realpe, owned by the Realpe family, Mr. Nativel Realpe and his two children Blanca and Rubio have been growing coffee for about thirty years, their farm extends over 6 hectares in the village of el chilcal bajo de la unión Nariño. They carefully cultivate and harvest the coffee on this farm, obtaining coffees of very good quality. The method of processing the coffee is aerobic fermentation in cherry, that is to say that after the day of harvesting they leave the cherry in the storage tank of the mill for two or three days depending on the environmental conditions and amount of coffee, after this time the coffee is pulped and left for another 24 hours of fermentation, the next day the coffee already has a higher fermentation where the mucilage is detached from the grain very easily and that is when it is ready to be passed through the channel of correteo removing the coffee from the washing tanks along with a rinse of water.
Thanks to the processes of coffee growing and commercialisation of dry parchment coffee, the Realpe family has been able to build their house and adapt the facilities for the most efficient production of coffee, acquiring installations such as the plastic drying room and the installation of drying silos.
Blanca Realpe and her son Daniel have started a local business in the urban area of the municipality where they sell hamburgers and other fast food together with coffee that they themselves are starting to produce on their farm. In recent years this family has created commercial and cooperative relationships with coomerciacafe, seeking better remuneration for their coffee and increasing their income and quality of life.
